Church on the Moor

Ordinary people following Jesus

We are an independent evangelical fellowship gathered in Cleator Moor. No formality or front required—just honest community, faithful scripture, and everyday life in West Cumbria.

Our beginnings

Roots in West Cumbria

Church on the Moor began with a handful of neighbours who longed for a warm, Bible-teaching church right here in town. Rather than travelling miles across Cumbria, we committed to planting our lives locally.

We gather weekly to open scripture, pray through genuine burdens, and care for each other across the generations. Our independence allows us to focus entirely on serving Cleator Moor without external distraction.

What we hold

Historic truth for everyday life

We hold gladly to the historic Christian gospel: salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, the trustworthy authority of God's Word, and a calling to love our neighbours in practical truth.

Pastoral care

Serving the church family

Leadership among us is about steady pastoral responsibility, teaching scripture clearly, and staying approachable to anyone who walks through the door.

Pastoral Care

Shared Responsibility

Our elders give time to prayer, preaching, and guarding faithful teaching so the whole congregation stays anchored in God's Word.

Everyday life brings illness, grief, and hard seasons. We visit homes, listen without hurry, and carry one another's burdens in prayer.

Every member plays an active part in the fellowship, from setting out chairs and brewing tea to mid-week community outreach.
